He went to visit her, and while he was there, he didn’t insult anyone and got into no fights. This was how life was going to be from now on, and it was so much better.
Malaya returned the visit, moved in with Todd, and they decided to get married after 3 months. But he was secretly nervous about committing himself. Life was fine as it was, he told her after 6 months, so why rush? She began to suspect that he meant to break his word.
What was worse, from Todd’s point of view, was that she expressed a wish to join a gym. The trouble was, there was only one where they lived, and that was the one where he had suffered so many disasters. He told her that she didn’t want to go there, it was rubbish. He had once been a member, he lied, but it was such a rotten gym that he gave it up.
But Malaya was not to be persuaded. She went to the gym without telling Todd and asked about membership. Diane gave her a form and chatted to her. Disastrously for Todd, Malaya proudly announced that she was engaged to a local man and told Diane his name.
"Todd? He used to be in here nearly every day, but we haven’t seen him for a few months."
"Is he still a member?"
"Certainly. Listen," she went on confidentially. "We’re a fairly unusual gym. We have male-female fights in the ring, but the man must be naked. Todd was in there just about every week, too."
"WHAT?"
"Sorry, did I say something wrong?"
"Oh no, nothing wrong at all!" scoffed Malaya. "I mean, what could be ‘wrong’ about my husband-to-be getting into fights with women and slugging it out with them, naked, in the ring?"
She joined the gym, then marched home, furious. But she also had a plan. She would fight Todd in that ring, and if she won he would get her a ring, and they would marry forthwith. He had no choice now.

"Well, hello!" Diane seemed to sing as they entered the gym. "Good to see you back so soon, Malaya! And Todd! You took longer to recover after your last beating, but it’s, er, nice to see you after so long. Now Malaya, we have some great leotards for you to choose from –"
"Thank you, but I’ve brought my own." Todd enjoyed a rare smirk at Diane’s expense.
She was right to bring her own leotard too, because she looked superb in it. She was one of those young women who, while being fairly slight of build, has large breasts. Her leotard, which was the palest shade of grey before white, moulded itself around them. Then again, for her size, she had quite a large bottom, which she would often complain about. They locked up, but in an instant Malaya had her fiance in a headlock. She had her arms linked confidently around his neck and under his near, left arm. She wore the smile of a seasoned wrestler whose plan has just gone swimmingly.
She used the headlock to bring him down to his knees. It was a deliberately slow process of dragging, grinding him down, to drain his energy resisting. Watching the footage in the office, Diane thought it was boring – but that is to miss the point. Conflict is as much about wearing your enemy down as it is about a dramatic strike here, or a knockout blow there.
When eventually Todd collapsed, exhausted, shaky and aching from his futile attempt to stay on his feet, Malaya sat on the small of his back and "camel clutched" him. With her hands around his throat rather than his chin, she pulled his upper body towards her while pushing his lower and middle body back with the pressure on the small of his back. He had been here many times before, and he knew the pressure on his stomach, spine, ribs and chest would become unbearable if she didn’t relent soon.
But relent she did; or at least she changed holds. Lying on her back, she pulled him towards her, crushing his chest into her breasts for a bit of distracting and teasing to add to his general torment. Then, lying to the side of him, she placed him in a body scissor.

She stood over him, and showed him her ring finger, to make her point. His whingeing response, "I wasn’t ready, and I’m a boxer, not a wrestler," was both funny and contemptible. It might not have been the most sensible thing to say either, given Malaya’s smile and her eagerness to get the gloves on.
They met in the middle and circled. Malaya made the most of her womanly figure for this, almost as if she knew cameras were on her. She managed at the same time to make both her beautiful bosom and her glorious bottom prominent. Todd was captivated – until he got her left glove in his eye. He didn’t have time to shake his head to clear it before she landed her right in the same place.
"Lovely!" thought Diane, when she saw that the slender, shapely girl had given her husband-to-be a black eye. She easily swerved a flashy, frustrated attempt at a counterattack from Todd. She made it look as if he’d just waved his left glove at her.
"Todd, you are in big trouble," she told him, before landing a right cross to his jaw. Her warning was instantly proved right, because her punch put him on his back.
Malaya stood over him, hands on hips, and looked down into his eyes. She relished her new-found role of dominant female. He had to admit, it was stimulating to be looking up at the exquisite body of the woman who had just knocked him down.
At the same time, that blow to the jaw had shaken him. He started playing for time, so he had a chance to recover. But she wasn’t having that. She drew him up to a sitting position by his shoulders with his head lolling on one side. Was he faking it, like a footballer clutching a perfectly good leg to try and get a penalty? She couldn’t be sure. When she got him to his feet, he seemed well enough, so she banged him on the jaw with a left cross to find out.
Yes, he was all right. Well, as all right as a man can be who’s just been punched on the jaw by his fiancee. She smiled, reassured that he was simply a bit of a fraud. She could now happily win her fight with a clear conscience, so she thrust her left glove into his chest. Todd doubled around it, trying to absorb the pain.
"Love this!" Diane declared at the screen, arms aloft in celebration, as Malaya landed a right cross to his "good" eye, blackening it like its neighbour. Lord, how she’d love to get into a fight with Todd herself! It probably looked even better in the ring, because he was unable to respond, save by desperately clinching to try to halt Malaya’s onslaught.
She was an inch or two shorter than him, but a lot fitter, and she used the clinch to force him against the ropes, whereupon she plunged her left glove low into his stomach. So low, in fact, that the bottom of her glove was in his pubic hairs. It would have been ruled illegal in a formal match – but then, a lot of things that happened in this club would have been. She was no longer smiling, possessed as she was by the intensity of the action.
She sent her right glove crashing into his chest, hitting the exact spot that she had got a minute or two earlier. The pain there was already troubling Todd; now it was roaring to demand his attention.
"Beautiful!" declared Diane, licking her lips at Malaya’s perfect left uppercut. Up, under, then beyond Todd’s chin it went, soaring into the air, while he staggered and floundered in its wake. She was "on a roll" and swept her left glove against his nose, side-on. Diane could tell she was excited by the fight, because her obviously hard nipples were prodding at the thin material of her leotard.
Malaya pounded his jaw with a right cross. Todd looked as if he was no longer sensible of what was going on. She had knocked all awareness out of him. The more deadened he became, the more energetic she grew, and she swung a mighty left hook into the opposite jaw. It sent him spinning.
When he stopped, he stood swaying, like an unwanted drunk at a party. He’d go down with her next punch, she knew, with what she had in mind. She had all the time she needed. She steadied herself, balancing nicely with her feet to give her the best possible purchase, then let him have it: a masterly right uppercut. She dispatched him in style. His feet left the mat, and he would have landed painfully on his back if he’d been aware of it. As it was, the pain would come soon enough when he came round.
It was count out time, and at 4, Malaya declared that she wanted a ring. At 8, she declared she was getting a ring. At 10, she announced that he was out, and she had won.
